Collegiate softball players will have the chance to play in a summertime league as the Sunflower summertime Collegiate Softball league will begin play in 2022, league commissioner Casey Walkup revealed this week.

The SSL will bring almost 100 student-athletes to Kansas each summer. The SSL will consist of six teams with the chance for future expansion.

“Working together as a league as well as not just private teams enables us to offer a affordable chance for college softball players to contend in summertime softball,” Walkup said. “Our founding collegiate baseball experience with an rate of interest in offering women the chance to both contend as well as grow during the summer.”

The SSL will run from June 17–July 17 with each team having 16 players. The SSL plans a blend of single-game as well as doubleheader styles with all teams participating in a regular showcase on Saturdays at Wilkins stadium Camiseta AS Monaco at Wichita specify University.
